Three-Phase Separator for Nigeria Project – Manufacturing Progress and Design Considerations

The equipment shown is a three-phase separator currently under production by HC for an oilfield project in Nigeria. The unit has completed the main vessel fabrication and primary piping installation and is now progressing steadily through the remaining manufacturing stages in accordance with the project schedule. As a core piece of equipment in oilfield surface processing systems, this three-phase separator is designed to efficiently and reliably separate gas, oil, and water from produced well fluids.

Based on typical operating conditions in Nigerian oilfields, produced fluids often exhibit characteristics such as high water cut, fluctuating sand content, and variable operating conditions. These factors place higher demands on the stability, adaptability, and overall reliability of separation equipment. During the design phase, HC’s engineering team systematically considered these conditions, focusing on operational reliability, separation performance, and on-site applicability.

From a structural standpoint, the three-phase separator adopts a horizontal configuration, with a well-optimized internal layout that provides sufficient residence time and separation space for the gas, oil, and water phases. This design helps reduce internal flow disturbances and improves phase stratification, thereby enhancing separation stability and allowing the equipment to perform effectively under fluctuating inlet conditions.

In terms of process and engineering details, careful attention was given to nozzle arrangement, piping routing, and instrument connections to accommodate installation and long-term operation at site. Key process interfaces are clearly arranged to facilitate integration with upstream and downstream systems, while manways and inspection openings are positioned to allow convenient access for routine inspection and maintenance. In addition, the design provides sufficient flexibility to accommodate operational adjustments and variations during commissioning and long-term service.

During fabrication, HC strictly adheres to applicable pressure vessel standards and project technical specifications. Comprehensive quality control is implemented throughout material selection, welding, and inspection processes to ensure structural integrity and long-term operational reliability. The separator is designed as a skid-mounted unit, enabling convenient transportation, efficient installation, and smooth integration into the overall facility layout, which aligns well with the practical requirements of the Nigeria project.

The successful progress of this three-phase separator project demonstrates HC’s experience and engineering capability in the design and manufacture of oilfield surface processing equipment, customized separation systems, and international project execution. Upon completion of the remaining fabrication work and final inspection, the unit will be delivered to the Nigeria project site, where it will provide reliable support for safe, stable, and efficient oilfield production.
