The sand trap is a special mechanical piece of oilfield equipment designed to separate sands and solids from well stream preventing downstream equipment from plugging and damage. The sand trap consists of special vertical vessel, gate valves, integral fittings, hammer unions, which are installed in the skid. Well stream enters sand trap; special internal design of vertical vessel directs flow downwards. In the bottom, sands and solids (heavier substances) accumulates on the bottom of the vessel because of gravitational force, then solids and sands are drained or taken away from the sand trap by special blowdown system. Lighter substances, such as oil and gas flows upwards and leaves vertical sand trap from the top.
HC designs and fabricates sand traps for flowback, surface well test, well clean-ups. Sand traps designed by HC are easy to operate, safe, and mobile, providing perfect solution or oilfield service companies. HC also pays special attention to weight and effectiveness of the sand trap’s structure, as additional weight increases both cost of product and transportation.
Our sand traps are available in several sizes, pressure rating and service class. HC can design sand traps both for standard and sour service. We use quality raw material which meets API standards handling high- and low-temperature applications.
